The Weaver's Web

Just an old liberal baby boomer keeping a watchful eye on the younger generation.

Where-in I ramble somewhat aimlessly about most anything that catches my interest or engenders my disgust. Politics, religion, widowhood, mental depression and living poor are fairly common themes here.

“It’s like the public just doesn’t want to believe anything else until it hits home. Until it’s their own child, brother or parent that got laid off when they were 58, until then, it’s not real.”

~Rand Corp. researcher Dr. Art Kellermann~

The last line in this AP article on Yahoo news pretty much says it all about conservative attitudes in America today.

The piece, authored by CARLA K. JOHNSON and KELLI KENNEDY speaks volumes about the I got mine, too bad you din’t get yours attitude of republicans when it comes to the poor. And it doesn’t matter if you work or not—no differentiation in their eyes. If you work and are poor you’re not working hard enough or smart enough. If you don’t work and are poor you’re trash.

And the republican governors of the five states who have refused to participate in the expansion of Medicaid under the presidents plan lead the way in callousness. Leaders who are supposed to be looking out for ALL of the people in their states are actually proud of their own jack-assedness when it comes to the poor.

And they love themselves some Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
